A Western Nebraska Adventure

P1060529

Heading for Scottsbluff, (far west Nebraska) via air.  First timers in a small airplane,  interesting for all.

P1060538

Monument Park in Scottsbluff, NE.   Where the Conastoga Wagons passed heading west during the great migration.  They say that you can still see the wagon wheel ruts left by the early travelers.  We looked but didn’t see them.  Maybe we didn’t look hard enough?  Maybe we had other priorities?  Maybe they really aren’t there?

P1060550

There is a great trail in Monument Park that leads to the top of the sandstone formations.

P1060567

Enroute to the top the trail goes through a really cool hand dug tunnel.

P1060572

From the top you can (on a clear day) see for miles.  Chimney rock and the town of Scottsbluff are but two of the interesting sites you can see

P1060576

.There are, so they say, rattle snakes roaming the prairie.  Didn’t see any!

P1060578

How big is Chimney Rock?  You’d be surprised.

P1060598

No trip to western Nebraska would be complete without a stop at the world famous Carhenge.
