Off to the Editor

I have forwarded the manuscript of my book to a couple of editors / publishers.  I’m not sure how things will go, as I’ve never been there before.

The draft manuscript contains 17 chapters and 9 character shorts.  The word count is over 175,000 words (it took 3 years to write).  To put that into perspective, a novel contains around 40,000 words, and an adventure thriller contains slightly more words, around 50,000 – 60,000.

I have had communications  with both an editor and a publisher.  It is too long and would cost a lot to be published at 175,000 words and photos.  However, we are going to discuss options.  I’m not sure what options will be available.  I could cut some verbiage, however, I would have an extremely hard time cutting any chapters.  Each and every chapter describes a unique experience and I feel that they all have equal importance in my story.

The purpose of my book is three fold:  1) To leave as a legacy for our grandchildren,  2) To have a book that is retrievable for anyone wants to obtain it, and 3) To support my Adventure Travel / Motivational Talk Series.  I do not plan on making any financial gains from the book.

Where does it go from here?  I don’t know.  The only thing that I do know is that I have just entered another Great Adventure!

Stay Tuned.
