Africa was never a place that was high on our priority list  to visit.  However, one day the opportunity just  presented itself.  We visited Africa for two reasons: 1) I wanted to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro and 2) we wanted to experience an African Safari on the Serengeti Plain.

I wanted to climb Mt Denali in Alaska, but was told that I didn’t have enough experience and that I must first climb another mountain.  I suggested that I first climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa (I wanted to anyway).  And so it was decided that I climb Mt Kilimanjaro.

When it was decided that I would go to Africa and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro I said to my wife, “Since I’ll already be in Africa climbing Mt Kilimanjaro why don’t you come over and we’ll do a safari?”  She said, “absolutely, great idea!”

Climbing Kilimanjaro was very interesting.  I had a great guide (David) and a good support team.

My wife met me in Arusha, Tanzania when I got down from the mountain.  We had arranged for a safari pick up in Arusha.  It was a great experience.

Our guide / driver was very good and made sure that we experienced the plain and saw as many animals (in their natural habitat) as possible.
