Climbing in the Denali Mountain Range, Alaska

Mountaineering in the Great Denali Mountain Range in Alaska was quite an adventure for us.  We were prepared for the cold, and yes, it did get cold (to the tune of -40 ℉)!

We spent a couple of weeks “playing” on the ice.  Our play included crevase rescue, rope line training, ice climbing, snow cave building, going up steep mountain peaks and anything else fun our guide, Paul, could conjure up.

In the end we were prepared to attempt the big hill, Mt Denali itself.

Our time on the ice was great (no one got frost bite).  White out?  We’ve never been in such a while out.

Our experiences in the Denali Mountain Range are documented in the book “Exploits of a Common Adventurer” by kent irwin.
