We had traveled past the Bonneville Salt Flats (on our way west) on numerous occasions but had never exited I-80 and investigated the race area. Then, while passing by, on a road trip, we took the time to drive into the speedway. At the time it was completely under water.
As we were looking over the place we started talking to a motor head guy who said that the races there were truly extraordinary. Right then and there we decided to attend Speed Week on the Bonneville Salt Flats.
So we did!
