For the first 4 or 5 years of retirement I was busy. I had plenty to do with running races, writing a book, traveling the world, keeping fit and flying our airplane.
Then it seemed that things slowed down. I found myself looking for something to do. The thought of part time work really unnerved me. With the inactive time, I started (hard to believe) to feel sorry for myself.
Then at Thanksgiving time, when it surfaced that I was having extra unoccupied time, our daughters suggested that I drive for Uber. I have never thought about driving for Uber before. I had taken Uber in the past but now be a driver? I looked into it.
So I met up with the Uber guy and found out about the requirements of driving. Then I applied for entry into the fraternity of Uber drivers. Our car passed inspection, my driver’s license was good as was our car insurance. Background check – no problem-. I was in!
After a 20 minute training session I found myself out on the road – Uber App looking for rides.
